Send Welcome Emails

The hope of every business owner is new customers.  Sometimes they come every day; other times less frequently. An overlooked strategy is to send a “welcome aboard” email to begin a business relationship. This is useful for several reasons.

1.  People like to be thanked.

Sending a warm thank you for being a new customer tells the customer you notice them.  It is a good first step.

2. Your gratitude affirms the customer’s choice.

We don’t want a customer to have buyer’s remorse. An introductory welcoming email is a way of reassuring the customer they made the right decision. This is particularly important for higher ticket purchases or long-term decisions.

3.  Welcoming emails have a high open and click-through rate.

According to an article by SPIAlert Daily, welcoming emails have an average open rate of 82% and a click through rate of 27%. This is above average and gives you an opportunity to engage your customer for future follow-ups.

We see an example in Scripture where a thank you made an impression. It happens in the story where Jesus healed ten lepers.

One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice.  He threw himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked him—and he was a Samaritan.

Jesus asked, “Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine?  Has no one returned to give praise to God except this foreigner?” Then he said to him, “Rise and go; your faith has made you well.” (Luke 17:15-18, NIV)

We all like to be thanked. Scripture tells us it is the right thing to do.  It’s also a good way to grow your business.
