When mistakes crop up at work, we may blame others. Next time someone drops the ball, determine the cause of the fumble and decide how to avoid the problem in the future. King Solomon instructed, "Do not testify against your neighbor without cause." (Proverbs 24:28, NIV).
Begin by focusing on the solution, not the problem. Be specific. Just saying, “It’s sloppy,” doesn’t help much; but saying “next time use less grease on the machine gear” is constructive.
Often, the issue is minor and doesn’t require commentary. Develop a sense about when to speak, when to remain silent, and when to let stuff go.
Colleagues will more quickly embrace a solution when they don't feel attacked. Your positive action to improve processes will build up your team members so they will develop a positive, can-do attitude to help you grow your business.
