After Nehemiah boldly told the king that he wanted to rebuild Jerusalem, he made a plan. (Nehemiah 2:5-6) He established a deadline for completing the work and a date when he would return to the king.
It is a good reminder to anyone who wants to be effective. Deadlines help us accomplish goals in a timely fashion. If an objective is worth achieving, first count the cost in time and money.
Then, carefully plan a schedule that you and your staff can commit to follow. Keep your focus on the goal and move forward according to your plan.
Don’t forget to establish regular benchmarks to measure progress and verify headway. If the project falls behind schedule; then, commit to a new plan you can follow and press on.
The result will be completed projects, less wasted effort, and a better-run business.
