When you see a problem at work

Posted by Steve Marr in Untagged

We may see a problem or believe a customer is unsatisfied, we may not want the extra work of bringing the issue up, or secretly desire to see a colleague fail or get into trouble, or we may be afraid to become involved because we may be mistaken.

Moses taught that if a person "has seen or otherwise known, if he does not tell it, then he will bear his guilt" (Leviticus 5:1 NASB).

Scripture is clear: we have a duty to speak up and to add value to our company.

A doctor’s office employee was transcribing notes for the doctor. She believed part of an order was an error. It was, the doctor had written the incorrect dose. By taking action, a patient was spared a possible risk.

When Buying From Vendors Do Your Research

Posted by Steve Marr in Untagged

One time, a slick, and effective salesperson sold me a package to collect past due accounts. I authorized quite bit of money for the package that never worked very well. My mistake, I failed to look beyond the great presentation.

When the slick catalog shows up, order a sample, rather than a large order. Verify that the quality and delivery are as promised.
A great sales presentation may sweep us away.

So be careful. Slow down and look at the facts, price, dependability, service, and quality.
Check references and validate the company's reputation. Work with those who demonstrate a partnership perspective.
Review suppliers well, and vendors will strengthen your business.

Finish key projects

Posted by Steve Marr in Untagged

We may become excited with a new project.

However, the fun wears off, and we must discipline ourselves to continue.

Fatigue and other new initiatives come along. Paul said, "That I may finish my course" (Acts 20:24 NASB). Unless we finish something, we have accomplished nothing.

We are tempted to leave the current work and start the new.

How many contractors are always starting new jobs, while leaving customers with unfinished work?

Enormous work efforts are ruined because the last details were neglected.

 Customers expect a complete job.

A reality is many businesses do not do what they say they will do on time. A business that keeps its work will develop a tremendous advantage in the marketplace. Plan well, work diligently, complete each job, and satisfied customers will come back.

Stay On Task

Posted by Steve Marr in Untagged

Most of us tend to gravitate to the work we like, not necessarily the work assigned by our boss. I can easily spend way to much time researching a topic because I am interested, rather than getting my job done.

Paul wrote, "...let us run the race that is set before us." (Hebrews 12:1 NASB). A key to the scripture is to run the race set before us, not the race we choose to run.

Our employer pays us to accomplish tasks established. Focus on the work assigned and don't go off on your own tangents.
