Every year, many of us make New Year’s resolutions — promises of what
we will do better in our businesses. The reality often is, nothing
changes. We end up making no real progress and nothing happens to
expand our business.
The gym is a busy place in early January, treadmills are filled and
weight machines may have a line. By early February, the volume is
usually back to normal. Only a few will keep their new commitments, but
most will fall away.

Swine Flu (or the H1N1 flu virus) is everywhere in the news. Some
reports estimate that 100 million Americans will become ill, while
others brush off the concerns with a simple, “It’s just going to be
another flu season.”
The key question is what should a business leader do?
We are being warned by Federal, State, and private experts that the
Swine flu could be devastating. A look at the current reality in South
America, now experiencing “winter,” may give us some insight. Swine Flu
cases have infected a significant amount of the population in
Argentina, Chile, Paraguay, and Uruguay, with the infection rate
rising.
